Job Description Department: Nursing Title: Nursing Educator
Reports to:
Education Manager, ACNO and CNO.

Position Summary:
· The Nursing Educator is responsible for
formulating and delivering the continuous educational programs to the
clinical and non-clinical staff at (.........). The role will also involve
support to the education coordinator or manager in initiating and delivering
hospital programs and maintaining mandatory training of all nursing staff.
The functions of the Nursing Educator (NE) are to provide nursing
professional development and education services by assisting nurses in
preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring The knowledge and skills to competently collect and analyze patient health data. the data to determine diagnoses,
identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of Care that prescribes interventions to achieve expected outcomes, implement interventions identified
in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of
the outcomes in the clinical care settings. |
Responsibilities and duties:
· Participate in strategic planning for all continuous
nursing education programs with the education manager.
· Prepares and revise the hospital policies, nursing
procedures and work instructions in collaboration with the education manager
and incorporate them in training programs.
· Have the main responsibility in the revision of
the competency checklists of the nursing procedures in accordance with the best
practice and evidence based nursing.
· Coordinates and provides the nursing orientation
program lectures, participate in the induction and re-orientation program in
cooperation with the learning and development department.
· Review and update the job description of all
categories of nurses at (.........) in coordination with the education manager
and CNO
· Form training curriculum within the approved
scope of practice.
· Ensure that instructional methods are suitable
for training plans.
· Ensure proper assessment of competencies of all
nursing staff in cooperation with the clinical instructors.
· Ensure sufficient clinical education and on-job
training of the nursing staff at the units and floor in coordination with the
clinical instructors.
· Participate to making investigations and
replying on the guest relation feedback and incident reports on daily basis.
· Participate in the BLS and ACLS training of the
clinical and non-clinical staff of the hospital in coordination with the
learning and development department.
· Take part in performance appraisal for the Head
Nurse of the respective unit.
· Do staff counseling as deemed necessary and
document event.
· Follow up on clinical performance in units and
floors.
· Act as clinical facilitator in training HCA’s and develop their curriculum.
Leadership:
· Give professional support to the nursing staff.
· Attend meetings as a representative of the
nursing department and report the results to the education manager, team and
the CNO.
· Support and uphold the objectives of senior
management.
· Support the vision and mission statement of the
nursing department.
· Practice his/her profession according to and
within the confines of the scope of practice as defined by the Syndicate of
Egypt and International Council of Nurses.
· Provide expert advice to caregivers on professional conduct and clinical practice.
· Participates in the evaluations and feedback surveys of the nurses' satisfaction and seeks opportunities to increase the nursing satisfaction.
Teamwork:
· Attend regular meetings of the nursing and
education department and help to disseminate the results and decisions for
effective implementation.
· Recognizes opportunities for improvement and makes
constructive suggestions for change.
· Coordinate all educational activities with the rest of the education team.
Researcher:
· Support the integration of research into
practice.
· Provide information to document effectiveness
of role as a staff development educator in a daily Clinical Instructor Interpret,
communicate, and incorporate research findings into program planning.
· Provide recent reference researches to be
utilized in updating all competencies, policies and procedures of the nursing
department.
Clinical Governance:
· Work as a coordinator for some committees held
regularly at the hospital, like the M&M and code blue committee.
· Promotion of safe and efficient care.
· Work as a team leader of improvement projects
in the nursing department.
· Ensure continuous updates and follow up of the
nursing department KPIs in coordination with the education managers and the CNO
· Determine the nursing skills and knowledge needed to achieve the desired level of medical care.
· Support the short term and long term objectives
of the nursing department.
· Serve as a reference for the nursing staff and
clinical instructors in regard to educational issues.
· Support all the Patient Care Teams in provision
of safe and effective outcome bases clinical service.
· Attend Clinical Audit Meetings.
· Promote integrated team approach (collaborative
care) in patient care.
· Ensure compliance of the nursing performance in the units and the floors with the recommendations of the ISO and JCI standards during the internal and external audits campaigns.
Management Responsibilities:
· Undertake education manager duties in the
absence of education manager.
· Cooperate with all members of the education
department to ensure effective and comprehensive implementation of the
educational plans.
· Ensure the recruitment of high caliber members
for the nursing staff and make the candidates interviews.
· Support the development of professional
accountability within the team to enable effective clinical governance.
· Assist supervisors by supporting their efforts
in daily clinical rounds.
· Ensuring implementation of hospital policies and
procedures.
· Assist management to realize management
objectives.
· Undertake clinical interventions in emergency
situations.
· Liaise with support services to co-ordinate
training plans for other health care personnel (HCA & L&D or other
Non-Nursing Personnel).
· Make decisions that directly impact clinical practice in nursing.
Competencies:
Education:
· BSN, MSN, PHD
is preferred.
Experience:
· Experience in project
management within education or training environments.
Training:
· Applied pharmacology.
· Certified BLS
· Certified ACLS.
· Knowledge of Trauma Care an
advantage.
· Excellent presentation skills.
Communication and Interpersonal skills:
·
Have the ability to liaise and communicate effectively with
all departments.
·
Liaise and coordinate service and plans with Education
Manager and CNO on a daily basis.
· Submit daily report educational activities to education manager.
