Job Description Department: Nursing Title: OBGYN Staff Nurse

Job Summary:
Under a collaborative agreement with a
physician, the ob/gyn provides patient care and education to their assigned
obstetrical and gynecological patients in accordance with established (.......)
policy.
Responsibilities and duties:
Daily functions:
· At the end of the shift, take report on the outgoing shift Layer.
· Check
all patients with the nurse of the previous shift.
· Provide
direct prenatal, intra-partum, and postpartum patient services and primary care
to low risk and at-risk obstetrical and gynecological patients, using general accepted
standards of practice.
· Wear
Nursing history, summarizing data and creating nursing/patient care diagnoses needs.
· Observe
and recording signs, symptoms and behavior, including physiological status of patients;
· Offer
specific nursing interventions Referred patients consistent with established care
plan.
· Conduct
admission, dismissal and transfer procedures and assist others in doing so Activities
and patient care.
· Carry out medical orders for all assigned patients; Administer Medication Safely and Appropriately and treatments.
· Make sure all medical supplies used by nigh/day shift have been charged to patients.
· Make sure all equipment used e.g. ECG machine have been charged for.
· Check all consents and pro-op documentation (Anesthetic check list, nursing pre-op checklist) for OR cases.
· Make sure that the specialist Physician informed of all new admissions.
· Check
prep times and help prepared nurse get ready Premedication according to the instructions.
· Carry
out or others in performing proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and
infection control measures.
· Document
the care of all assigned patients Records.
· Maintaining
patient privacy and confidentiality Information and records at any time.
· support
fee and the patient's response.
· Demonstrate the ability to judge Understanding and following instructions and health care teaching.
· Establishment of dedicated clinical pathways in collaboration with education Department to manage specific conditions in the unit.
· Know the following protocols:
- Disaster
Policy.
- Code
blue policy.
- Fire
safety policy.
- Infection
control policies.
Educational Responsibilities:
Under as directed by the Nurse Supervisor and Clinical Nurse Instructor:
· contribute
to Identifying training needs specific to the clinical field.
· Attend
the clinical introduction to all newcomers Nursing and support staff.
· Develop
leadership skills to act as an effective role model.
· To
adjust Responsibility for their own educational and developmental needs.
· Attend
all required in-services training programs.
· Stay
current with mandatory training such as Basic Life Support (BLS). (PALS) is preferable.
Communication and Interpersonal skills:
· Follow
the appropriate lines of communication according to the department's organizational
chart.
· Must
be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Maintain
professional appearance and dress code.
· Wear
Identification badge when working.
· Follow
the policy for absences or late arrivals.
· Must
be have critical thinking skills and innovative.
· Always
promote good rapport in the unit to maintain teamwork.
Dress Code:
· According
to (.......) Policy.
Education:
· BSN
or Nursing technical institute or have nursing diploma.
Experience:
· 1
year experience as nurse in Ob/Gyn department is preferable.
Training:
· Must
be registered with the Egyptian Syndicate or Nursing Council/Association of country
of origin.
· Must
attend 50 hrs of mandatory in-service training in a contractual year.
· Uphold
and support the mission statement and vision of (.......)
· BLS
certification is mandatory.
· PALS
&ACLS is preferred.

· Conducting normal delivery.
· Episiotomy.
· Immediate care of the newborn infant.
· Vaginal Examination in labor.

· Wound dressing.
· Glucometer.
· IV Cannulation.

· Medication Administration.
· Patient assessment and reassessment.
· Venipuncture in Neonates.
· Care of baby under phototherapy.
· APGAR scoring system.
· Positing of babies in incubator and cot.
· Thermoregulation.
· Top & Cord care.
· Bottle Feeding.
· Neonatal Resuscitation.
· BLS.
· Conscious Sedation Policy.
