Job Description Department: Nursing Title: Pain Management Nurse

Job Summary:
The nurse clinician has advanced skills in
pain management, patient education, staff education and program development.
The nurse clinician in pain management works collaboratively and in
consultation with the department of Anesthesia to coordinate the provision and
delivery of pain management care to patients consulted or referred to the pain
program/service.
Responsibilities and duties:
· Take report from outgoing shift and the end of the shift.
· Check all sufferers with the preceding shift nurse.
· Provides comprehensive assessment and
management for patients who are consulted to the pain program/service.
· Performs daily patient rounds, evaluates pain
management therapies and identifies actual and potential side effects related
to therapy.
· Acts as a role model by performing thorough
pain assessments, documenting pain assessments, interventions and outcomes.
· Collaborates with anesthesia in making clinical
recommendations to optimize the provision of pain care.
· Acts as a resource for patients, families,
staff and students in relation to pain management.
· Develops, implements and evaluates policies and
procedures related to the assessment, management and education of patients
experiencing pain.
· Use non-drug interventions to assist in pain alleviation.
· Implementing first-class assurance / development requirements to reveal the ache management program.
· Perform or help others to carry out right aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
· Maintain affected person's privateness and confidentiality of statistics and facts in any respect times.

Evaluate care given inclusive of the affected person response.
· Demonstrate cap
potential to evaluate affected person's knowledge of and compliance with instructions and
health care teaching.
· Establish unique medical pathways with the collaboration of Education
Department to manage specific conditions in the unit.
· Know the following protocols:
· Disaster Policy.
·
Code blue policy.
·
Fire safety policy.
· Infection control policies.
Educational Responsibilities:
Under the route of the
top nurse & Clinical teacher the nurse will:
o
Contribute to the identification of educational aspirations relevant to the medical field.
o
Participate withinside the medical induction of all new nursing and help staff.
o
Develop leadership ability in order to act as
an effective role model.
o
Assume duty for very own mastering and improvement wishes.
o
Attend all required in-services training
programs.
o
Keep up-to-date with required training such as: B. Basic Life Support (BLS).
Communication and Interpersonal skills:

Follow proper communication channels as per department flow chart.

Must be capable of speak successfully verbally and in writing.

Maintain professional appearance and dress
code.
o
Wear Identification badge when working.
o
Comply with guidelines for absence or
tardiness.

Must be modern and feature essential questioning skills.

Always sell exact rapport withinside the unit to preserve teamwork.
·
Must be capable
of speak successfully verbally and in writing.
·
Be able
to liaise with other members of the Health Care Team and support services for
effective and efficient patient care.

Must be innovative and have critical abilities
thinking.
·
Act as
patient advocate and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications :
Education:
·
B.S.N,
Technical institute of nursing or certification in nursing.
Experience :-
· 2 years
post graduate experience, 1 of those in Anesthesia department is an advantage.
Training :-
·
Must be
registered with the Egyptian Syndicate of Nurses and / or expert registration body.
·
50 hours
of schooling in line with annum mandatory.
·
BLS certification
is mandatory.
