Job Description Department: Nursing Title: OPD Staff Nurse

OPD Head Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, ADON
&DON.
Job Summary:
To work within the multi-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive physical, psycho-social and spiritual care to patients. To participate as a member of the nursing team carrying out all relevant forms of care in conjunction with other team members. Regularly to have responsibility for managing the nursing care delivery on specified shifts.
Responsibilities and duties:

Screen
the patients on arrival according to specialty.
·
Prepare
the consulting rooms for all the clinics.
·
Check
patient’s vital signs and prepare patients for examination.
· Collaborate
with the reception staff regarding patients with appointments for specific
specialties like surgery, diabetic clinic etc.
· Make
sure the patients’ files are collected on time from Medical Records Department.
· Assist
doctors and stay with patients until the doctor completes the consultation (especially
female patients).
·
Assist
patients who require other services such as Phlebotomy and Radiology etc.
·
Assist
patients who need assistance with wheel chair and porters etc.
·
Hand
over patients with prescriptions to the receptionist.
· May be deployed in other departments if the
need arises.
· Provide
direct care to assigned patients.
· Capture
medical history, summarize data and establish nursing diagnoses/patient care needs.
· Observing and recording signs, signs and behaviors consisting of the physiological status of patients.
· Perform
specified nursing interventions on assigned patients consistent with achievement medical
plan of care.
· Perform
admission, discharge and switch strategies and help others with affected person activities.
· Carry
out medical orders for all assigned patients; Administer
medication safely and appropriately
possible and treatments.
· Performing or assisting others in performing proper aseptic techniques, isolation procedures, and infection control measures.
· Document
care in all associated patient records.
· Respect
the privacy and confidentiality of patient information and records at all times.
· Evaluate the care provided, including patient response.
· Demonstrate
ability to assess patient understanding and compliance with
instructions and health care teaching.
· Establishment of dedicated clinical pathways in collaboration with the Ministry of Education for management specific
conditions in the unit.
· Know the following protocols:

Disaster Policy.

Code blue policy.
-
Fire safety policy.
- Infection control policies.
Educational Responsibilities:
Under
the direction of the pinnacle nurse & Clinical educator the nurse will:

Contribution to the determination of the training needs relevant to the clinical area.
·
Participate in the clinical introduction of all new nurses and support staff.
·
Develop the leadership skills to act as an effective role model.
·
Take obligation to your personal mastering and improvement needs.
·
Attend all required in-services training
programs.
·
Keep updated with obligatory schooling which includes Basic Life Support (BLS).
Communication and Interpersonal skills:
· Follow the appropriate communication channels according to the organizational chart
of the department.
· Must be capable of talk efficiently each orally
and in writing.
· Maintain professional appearance and dress
code.
· Wear Identification badge when working.
· Respect out-of-office or tardiness policies.
· Must be revolutionary and feature crucial questioning skills.
· Always promote a good relationship in the unit to maintain teamwork.
Qualifications:
Education:
·
B.S.N.,
Nursing College or Nursing Diploma.
Experience:
·
1 years
experience in primary nursing care units is preferable.
Training:
·
Must be
registered with the Egyptian Syndicate or Nursing Council/Association of
country of origin.
·
Must
attend 50 hrs of mandatory in-service training in a contractual year.
·
Uphold
and support the mission statement and vision of (...................).
·
BLS
certificate is required.
